Re-wiring

Homes with old wiring is deemed to be unsafe which can cause fire hazards. To meet the NZ Electrical Standards the wiring should be repaced with TPS (Thermo-Plastic-Sheath). It's also likely the protective devices will have to be upgraded to MCBs (Minature Circuit Breakers) for faster reaction times under fault conditions. RCDs (Residual Current Devices) detect an imbalance of current between the live conductor and neutral conductor; therefore disconnecting the cicuit to stop fault current from returning down the earth conductor which is usually caused by faulty appliances.
